Book Review (Audio): Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet by Darynda Jones

Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet
(The Charley Davidson Series, Bk #4)
By Darynda Jones

Narrated by Lorelei King

Synopsis:

Sometimes being the grim reaper really is that. Grim. And since Charley’s last case went so awry, she has taken a couple months off to wallow in the wonders of self-pity. But when a woman shows up on her doorstep convinced someone is trying to kill her, Charley has to force herself to rise above. Or at least get dressed. She quickly realizes something is amiss when everyone the woman knows swears she’s insane. The more they refute the woman’s story, the more Charley believes it.

In the meantime, the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, has been cleared of all charges. He is out of prison and out of Charley’s life, as per her wishes and several perfectly timed death threats. But his absence has put a serious crimp in her sex life. While there are other things to consider, like the fact that the city of Albuquerque has been taken hostage by an arsonist, Charley is having a difficult time staying away. Especially when it looks like Reyes may be involved.

In Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet, just when life was returning to normal, Charley is thrust back into the world of crime, punishment, and the devil in blue jeans.

Available to purchase at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Viviana's Review:
Officially my favorite book in the "Charley Davidson" series!! This book has it all; action, adventure, mystery, comedy, great characters, tension between the two leads and steamy sexiness!! What more could a bookaholic want, right?

Viviana's Review:

Wow! Definitely different!  Kristen said it herself several times; this one was going to be different! The truth is the series itself is different. The series is called “Unfinished Heroes” for a reason. If you haven’t read the first book “Knight”, I highly recommend it (review here)! You can find the review for it here. “Creed” was different even within the series. Based on the name and with the focus being on the hero, you would think that in “Creed”, the hero would be in the forefront, but he isn't the main focus. She is! The heroine, Sylvie. Again, Kristen (the Author) mentioned this and hoped that fans would like it.

Viviana's Review:
Absolutely LOVED it!! Couldn't put it down!! The characters are excellently written! The males are strong alphas yet have a sensitivity to them that is brought on only by the Love for their mate! The women are strong and confident! Which is a breathe of fresh air considering that they are usually written as the weaker sex. The plot is brilliantly executed with highs and lows (dialogue & action). I was extremely thankful that she didn't "retell" book 1 as this is a series and some authors tend to feel that they need remind the reader what happened in the previous book.

Viviana's Review:

I really did like it. Though I felt that I was missing something…… A few of my friends who have read the book LOVED it! Then I realized what it was…. I haven’t read the “Night Huntress World” series! Apparently, the Vlad from “Night Huntress” has a wicked sense of humor. I soooo would have wanted to see that in this book. That would have definitely made me LOVE this book.

Viviana's Review:
The second installment from the Sin Hunter series by Caridad Pineiro, “The Claimed” is sizzling and action packed! The story continues where we left off in “The Lost” and we get to know more of the Shadow and Light Hunters. I really enjoyed how the author didn’t retell the first book within the second, as it occurs in some series. However, enough information is shared that in the event that the reader hadn’t read the first installment, they wouldn’t be lost. This can be read as a standalone book, however, why would you want to! The series is fantastic and a breath of fresh air within the PNR genre.

Book Review: First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones

First Grave on the Right
By Darynda Jones

Synopsis:

A smashing, award-winning debut novel that introduces Charley Davidson: part-time private investigator and full-time Grim Reaper.

Charley sees dead people. That’s right, she sees dead people. And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light.” But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e. murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely. This is a thrilling debut novel from an exciting newcomer to the world of paranormal romantic suspense.

Available for purchase at Amazon and Barnes and Noble

Viviana's Review:

How did I go so long without reading this book (and series as a whole)? Shame on me!! Absolutely loved it! Where to start…..

This is a quick read that is easy to follow with a few subplots, but again, easy to follow. The characters are, well great! They would so be the people I would want in my life and have them as friends! They each are quirky, smart, sarcastic, and witty in their own way! The dynamic between each of the individual relationships and the larger group one is written perfectly!

Book Review: Knight by Kristen Ashley

Knight
(Unfinished Heroes Series #1)
By Kristen Ashley

Anya Gage has learned that to get anything good in life, you have to work for it. She has no expectations, no dreams.

Then she finds herself at a party where she doesn’t want to be and she meets Knight.

But when Anya comes to his nightclub and finds herself in a situation, he knows someone has to look after her, he can’t fight it anymore and he decides that man will be him.

Knight teaches Anya that, just as with the bad, in life you should also expect the good. And he teaches her this by giving it to her.

Viviana's Review

Allow me to begin by saying that Laura Wright is one of my favorite authors! I LOVE the “Mark of the Vampire” series and have been eagerly awaiting Gray’s story from the very beginning! Though “Eternal Beast”, the fourth book in the series, can be read as a standalone book, I would definitely suggest you read the entire series from start to finish! It truly is a fantastic series! This includes the e-novella “Eternal Blood”, which I recommend you read before “Eternal Beast”. Again, just a suggestion as it will provide you with some background information.
