Book Review: Entwined by Elisabeth Naughton

Entwined
(Eternal Guardian Series, #2)
By Elisabeth Naughton

Synopsis:
ZANDER — The most feared of all the Eternal Guardians. It’s rumored he can’t be killed, and he always fights like he has nothing to lose. But as a descendant of the famed hero Achilles, he’s got to have a vulnerability… somewhere.

Forces of daemons are gathering and have broken through the barriers of the Underworld. Now more than ever the Eternal Guardians are needed to protect both their own realm and the humans’. Zander can’t afford to think about what might have been with the bewitching physician he once regarded as his soul mate. But with eternity stretching before him, he also can’t fathom spending his life without the one woman who makes him feel most alive. Perhaps he’s found his weakness, after all…

Viviana's Review:
Absolutely LOVED it!! Couldn't put it down!! The characters are excellently written! The males are strong alphas yet have a sensitivity to them that is brought on only by the Love for their mate! The women are strong and confident! Which is a breathe of fresh air considering that they are usually written as the weaker sex. The plot is brilliantly executed with highs and lows (dialogue & action). I was extremely thankful that she didn't "retell" book 1 as this is a series and some authors tend to feel that they need remind the reader what happened in the previous book.

Will admit that Max was a surprise, in the sense that though he is ten yrs old in the story, he's going on 20 with the way he handles things and how he reacts. Then again, Max isn't your traditional 10yr, is he? (he's also a work of fiction) So taking that into consideration - again what's not to love!

Orpheus has me extremely curious on how his character is going to evolve throughout the series! He's your typical "bad boy" and you have that feeling that he's only out for himself, yet, so far, he's playing on the good side, but for how long? Guess, I'll just have to keep reading the series to find out... Gee Darn! Twist my arm, why don't you! LOL

Zander: Strong in both his beliefs and in body, we learn he's been through hell and back and all based on lies! You'll want to smack him across the head once you find out the details (you'll see) and then bring him in close for a hug (again, you'll see). Proof of what a great job Elisabeth does in creating her characters.

Callia: Again, as I mentioned, loved that Elisabeth doesn't write her heroine as whinny little girl trapped in a women's body! (THANK YOU Elisabeth!!). Callia is strong again but mentally, emotional and even physically. She doesn't back down when it comes to her son and is willing to sacrifice her own happiness for the good of the world. But she does all this without coming across as "bitchy", "whiny", "inferior", ect. She's a tough cookie and one that really enjoyed reading!

Titus provided the comical relief and the "angel voice on your shoulder" through out this book. Another character I'm looking forward to get to know better! Quiet with a wicked sense of humor  And did I forget to mention sarcastic as hell! (be still my heart)!

Isadora: okay, she is currently not my favorite. She's the "typical female" in romance where "her hands are tide and she can't change things but knows she wants to and will one day have to".....   Yeah, that girl! The one you want to grab by the shoulder and tell her to grow a set and own her life and decisions! Still she doesn't come across as a whiny little girl! Which is exactly why I don't hate her, she is just currently not my favorite but I know she has the potential to kick some royal behind! And when she does, take cover!! She's a character I'm going to enjoy reading as she continues to develop her independence and her strengths.

Love the story line (arc) as a whole. I've always loved Greek mythology! Elisabeth does a fantastic job of melding the original Greek mythology we all know to the potential of "what if they really did excited and this happened".  Its a great concept and as with any great story, you fall for the characters and wished we lived in their world.

Rating: 5 Stars - Perfection

  1. An excellent review of an excellent book. I agree with you in the fact that Elisabeth writes her heroines as women not whiny demanding brats!

I think there is so much going on and love the way Elisabeth just walks us down her twisted little path!

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the rest of the books. If you want to hear mine feel free to go to Eternal Guardians on Tea and Book and Eternal Guardians on Bodice Rippers, Femme Fatales and Fantasy I have split up the reviews and there are different reviews on each blog
