Viviana's Review:
There are times when a secondary character or one in passing really captures the readers/listeners attention. Sometimes, the author has plans to use those secondary characters (or those in passing) in another book, getting their own story. Other times, their story can be told and be just the right short length! Lauren has brought together two couples we met in "Instant Gratification" along with the hero and heroine of "Instant Gratification"! Of course we were curious about how they first met and how things went in the 'friend zone". So if you haven't read/listened to "Instant Gratification", you can certainly start with "Instant Attraction" but can totally be read as a standalone!

Sebastian York is the omniscient narrator, aka Spencer Holiday! He assists with telling us, the listeners, about these awesome romantic fairy that happen to be Gavin's and Savanna's, Enzo's and Valerie's and Jason's and Truly's stories! He weaves us into the vignettes smoothly and in a very "Sebastian York" manner! I love him! He's just awesome!!

Speaking of vignettes, this is written in that style which I personally LOVED!! Think "Love Actually"! You get a little bit of all the couples at different times and it totally works!!

Overall, Lauren continues to give us fabulous stories and her casting choice of narrators are fantastic!! These lovely fairy tales showcases her innovation and outside the box thinking when it comes to audiobooks. You'll love it!!

From #1 NYT Bestselling author Lauren Blakely comes a hot & hilarious new standalone romantic comedy...

Women often say a good man is hard to find. And a hard man is even better.

That's why I'm quite a catch-- good, hard, loaded, and wait for it...I'm ready to settle down too. But the woman I want to pitch my tent with lives clear across the country. Neither of us wants to get lost in those woods. All I have to do is resist her for the week she's in town.

I try. I swear I try. But yeah, that doesn't work out.

And after one fantastic night with my good friend Mia, I'm ready to give her years of nights under the stars. What's a few thousand miles when love's involved? But there's a hitch in my plans -- she just hired my adventure tour company. If there's one thing I'm committed to, it's running a squeaky clean business. Number one on my list of iron-clad rules?

Don't screw your customers.

But what's a guy to do when she's so hard to resist? How hard can it be to keep our hands off each other for a quick group tour down the hills and over the trails? I'm about to find out, and I have a feeling I'm going to need a new badge of honor because things are about to get very hard in the woods.

Excerpt

I haven’t seen Mia in almost a month, since the last time she was in town staying with Max. I didn’t realize she’d be back a full week before her other brother Chase’s wedding, and am I ever glad to see her again.

She makes all parts of me quite happy indeed.

By happy, I mean hard as a rock.

Okay, fine. It’s not like I’m operating at full power this second. I’m thirty-three, not fifteen. I have plenty of self-control in the “when and where to pitch a tent” arena. All I’m saying is this woman gets me going, and I feel that zip down my body when I see her.

She’s on the phone, her eyebrows pinched, her expression harried. She drags her hand through her caramel-blond hair. As I walk closer, I hear her say, “I understand. Yes, I understand. Things happen.”

And that’s the sound of someone being disappointed.

Which is a terrible thing for this sexy-as-a-fiery-sunset woman to experience.

When she stops and ends her call, she spots me. She tilts her head, her eyes piercing, her brow furrowed, and her dimples killing me with cuteness. Her eyes roam from me to Zeus, and then she points at my boy. “I don’t know if anyone has told you this . . .”

I raise my eyebrows. “Tell me. What could it possibly be?”

Her eyes drift to the ground then back up. In a deadpan tone, she says, “But there’s a cat in your hat? Well, on your back, actually.”

“There is?” I crane my neck to peer over my shoulder. “You’re right. How did he get there?”

She parks her hands on her hips. “You’re in big trouble.”

“I’ve been bad, have I?”

She pushes my shoulder then wags her finger at me. “How did you keep this from me?”

I quirk an eyebrow. “The fact that there’s an awesome new Italian place down the street? It opened last month, and I planned to tell you.”

She huffs, rolling her eyes. “I’ve known you for months and you didn’t tell me you had a cat. Friends don’t hide pets from friends.”

She’s not in town that often. She hasn’t ever been to my apartment. And I don’t take Zeus upstairs to Max’s. But I’m not going to state the obvious. I’m going to have a little fun with her. Flirt with her. Because . . . that’s what we do.

“There’s a reason for that.”

Her eyes go wide, and she taps her toe, waiting. I drag a hand through my hair. Evie says my light brown hair is floppy, and she tells me this is a good thing. The ladies love floppy hair, she says. She’s been right so far. My hair’s been a big hit with the ladies, and other parts have, too.

“It’s a good reason,” I add.

“I’m waiting, Patrick. This really isn’t the type of intel you should hold back.”

I heave a sigh as if I’m going to make a huge admission, then I park a hand on her shoulder. Because, well, I’m a sneaky bastard and I’ll look for any opening to touch her. “Look, I’m going to be blunt. If I told you I had a hiking cat who rides shotgun in a backpack and can purr like he’s a jazz superstar, you’d have had no choice but to fall in love with me.”

Audiobook Lovin 2017 Presents: We said we'd listen to anything.......

When we say we'd listen to ANYTHING from our favorite narrators, we tend to mean that we'll auto buy the book regardless of genre or author. This is a wonderful thing as it leads to discovering new authors as well as genres we never thought we'd like or want to read. Then again, I know many have said (including me) that they'd hand over the yellow pages to "insert your favorite narrator here" so we can listen to them and their voice. Well, last year, Audible took us, the loyal and audiobook loving audience at our word! They created the "Excerpts from The Encyclopaedia Britannica: A Dictionary of Arts, Sciences, Literature and General Information, Eleventh Edition" with some of our favorite, "Must Listen To" narrators. Oh I'm sure Audible Studios had a BLAST with this! Go grab your copy at Audible, it's free! Worth the listen because the narrators, all true professionals, ROCKED IT!!! Listen to the two samples below and lets reconnect in a few...

Excerpts from The Encyclopaedia Britannica: A Dictionary of Arts, Sciences, Literature and General Information, Eleventh Edition
Written by: Various
Narrated by: full cast

Length: 13 mins

Prepare yourself for the ultimate multicast performance. We've gathered many of Audible's most popular narrators to bring to life some of the most extraordinary words ever written. 19 words, in fact, carefully selected and arranged alphabetically as in their original source: the 11th edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica. We created this enlightening journey from AUDIENCE to LITERATURE because you asked for it. You said you could listen to your favorite narrators read the phone book, bookcase assembly instructions, or a restaurant menu. With this production we've proven that a truly talented narrator can, in fact, take any work and make it extraordinary. Enjoy!

Audio Book Lovin' Presents: Interview with Sebastian York

Hi Everyone! Books-n-Kisses and I are thrilled to have narrator Sebastian York with us today!!

Hi Sebastian! Kelly and I are extremely excited to have you be a part of our Audio Book Lovin’ Series! Welcome!

Sebastian: Hi, Everybody. Nice to "be here."

Viviana: How about we begin with you telling us a bit about yourself and how long have you’ve been narrating and how did you get into the gig?

Sebastian: Well, I like to travel a lot. I'm actually answering these questions from a plane somewhere over the Pacific. Forgive me if I get a little dreamy or something from being up in the clouds. Any rate, I got started a few years back thanks to a friend of mine, Ethan Donaldson. Narrating was something I'd always wanted to do. Ethan is a really experienced engineer, editor, and director who recognized something in my voice. Over the course of a couple of months I'd go over to his place and we started to make a reel. (A reel is an audio sample of your voice; you read various books spanning a variety of genres. It's a means to give casting directors an idea of your range, accents, and style, among other things.) Once he thought we had enough material he began to send it around to casting directors he knows and has worked with over the years. Things just went from there.

Viviana: For you, how does an author/narrator relationship begin?

Sebastian: Honestly, it rarely does. Lately, though, I've been in much more direct contact with authors. Sometimes they'll contact the narrator directly, asking if you're available. I tend to say yes all the time, so building a relationship w/ the author and what she wants just comes about naturally. They'll tell you what they're looking for in a specific character, what they like etc etc. But most of them are usually very open to the narrator's own ideas. It's usually a pretty compatible thing. A collaboration, really.

Viviana: What sort of information does the author (or the publishers) provide you prior to starting the narrating process of the book(s)?

Sebastian: Basically they provide descriptions of characters-- ages, background, histories-- or they'll specifically identify a character's regional or foreign accent. Another important-- probably the most important-- thing is telling you what they don't want. This makes things much easier sometimes.

Viviana: How do you go about selecting how each of the characters are going to sound like? (i.e. their tones and accents)

Sebastian: A lot of that is either told to you (as mentioned above) or certain details are written in the book. The r al fun for me comes from secondary or tertiary characters. Most of the time you can really cut loose. I use a lot of voices from people I've known, met, or have simply overheard across the ages, so to speak. You can also cross-reference or combine them. Basically, you can just let it rip, especially when those characters are complete assholes or idiots. For some reason, I've attracted a lot of those over the years. Maybe it's a curse of having what I'm told is a "sympathetic" face.

Viviana: Along the lines of the previous question, how do you manage or what is your process of remember what the character from a previous book sounds like when they reappear in a new book (or if not part of a series, but standalone, characters as they pop in and out of the story)?

Sebastian:  I have a pretty good memory, so most of the characters' voices I can recollect fairly quickly. But, really, since you're strictly a narrator, the main character voices are generally interchangeable. I always use my regular voice for the mains, for instance; others just come back. If you're really in a bind, and if you keep an archive, you can go rooting through and find it. I also don't work on more than one book at a time so, in the case of a standalone, recall isn't a problem. You're working on it in consecutive days, so they're all in your head.

Viviana: As readers we get the completed product to listen to. Nicely wrapped up in it’s pretty cover! However, a lot of work going into making audiobooks. Tell us about the narrating process (i.e. do you read the book before narrating it? How long are the recording sessions per day? How long does it take for you to narrator a book?  If you make a mistake while recording, what happens?)

Sebastian: First off, I never work/narrate for more than 4 hours (5 tops) a day. Things can quickly go downhill after that amount of time. Your eyes start playing nasty tricks and you mis-read a lot of stuff. It's annoying. I like to come into each book in fresh segments. You're really after a rhythm, and I've sort of cultivated a preference for going in "cold." I think this helps the listening experience because I'm moving through a book the same way a listener is. It makes for a mutual experience, I think. I've always been a "first take is the best take" idealist, anyway. Mistakes happen all the time, though. They're unavoidable. If you stumble over a word or line, you just go back and record it again (thereby erasing the mistake by going over the top
of it). This is called "punch and roll", which is a pretty common method when you're recording at home or in a studio. Length: 200 pages is roughly about twenty hours of work time, I'd say.

Viviana: So… we often hear authors say they have a writer's cave, where they go and do their work. Do you have something similar (i.e. home studio)? Or if you work in the publisher’s studios, do you bring certain things with you and if so, what are they?

Sebastian: The majority of my work is done from home. I have a very makeshift home "studio." I use quotes because most people would either laugh or stare quizzically at how it looks. More a chaotic den than a cave. In a studio, no, I don't really bring anything. No lucky charms or anything like that. But I do like to get to know the engineers. You shoot a lot of shit in the booth. I do, anyway. I really enjoy working with them. You're in a kind of capsule together, and isolated, so it can be kind of therapeutic when you're working that closely with someone, communicating through wires and from opposite sides of a soundproof glass wall between the two of you. It sounds odd, but I like it. Engineers are great resources to have. They should be working a lot more, too. I'm a little troubled by how much the industry is shifting away from them. I don't consider myself a maverick for saying that, either.

Viviana: Here’s a fun question we have been wondering… as a narrator, do you get “oh say it in ‘the voice (i.e. Character’s voice or the “narrator” voice)” question often? Or do you get that sort of requests at all?

Sebastian: Yeah, I get that, but only among good friends. I'll leave it at that.

Viviana: Of all the books you’ve narrated, which one has been your favorite to narrate and why?

Sebastian: In deference to the authors, I don't think it's really proper to pick one out of the bunch. Sorry.

Viviana: What do you do for fun? When you’re off the clock.

Sebastian: I get the hell out of town and try to drink a lot of good beer and wine. I travel as often as I can, even if it's just a few miles away. Working at home is a boon and a bane.

Viviana: What are you currently working on and what’s next for you?

Sebastian: Not working on anything right now. But I've recently worked through a hell of a brick since the beginning
of the year. I think there are something around 30 books coming out as we speak or very soon. More on the way this summer.

Viviana: If someone has not listened to any audio book before what would you tell them?

Sebastian: It's another form of entertainment, but it requires some patience and a lot of imagination. That seems to be a difficult proposition for a lot of people these days. To them, I'd say, listen to it in sections. Otherwise, let them lift you out of your normal daily grind. They can do that very easily if you let them. There are a lot of great narrators out there, and they know how to capture that sense of removal. Let them.

Viviana: This was awesome! Looking forward to listening to you again, I have a few of the books you’ve narrated on my wish list / to be listened to list. :) Thank you for hanging out with us today!

Sebastian: Thanks, Viviana. All best to you and everyone.

Have you listened to Sebastian? Below are some audio samples for you to check out! I'm currently listening to EVERYWHERE AND EVERY WAY by Jennifer Prosbst! I'm REALLY enjoying his narration of the story! I've listened to all of the BOUDREAUX series by Kristen Proby... LOVE THEM! While I haven't read the LEGAL BRIEFS series by Emma Chase, I purchased the second book, SUSTAINED based on reviews and that the novella,  SIDEBARRED involves that couple and because Sebastian is the narrator! YUP! Similar to authors, I WILL follow a narrator and check out new authors or new series and books because they narrate them.

Audio Book Review: Easy Melody by Kristen Proby

Easy Melody (Boudreaux #3)
by Kristen Proby
Narrators: Rachel Fulginiti and Sebastian York

Blurb:
Callie Mills never intended to return to New Orleans and the life she left behind more than a decade ago. There was no need to open old wounds when she had the life she’d worked hard for in Denver. But when she’s fired from her awesome job in Colorado and her father dies, she has no choice but to return home to run the derelict bar left to her in the heart of the French Quarter. Callie must not only face bad memories but turn The Odyssey into something she can be proud of.

And who better to help bring in crowds of people than Declan Boudreaux?

Declan is a sought-after musician who knows he’s good at what he does and loves doing it. Known to pack the house, he also loves women and doesn’t expect to be knocked back a step by the beautiful new owner of The Odyssey. Callie is sharp, gorgeous and funny, and makes him yearn for something he never has before… Commitment.

But when Callie’s able to turn the business around with renovations, making it one of the hottest bars in the Quarter, will she sell out and leave her past behind once and for all, or will Declan be able to convince her that’s she’s where she needed to be all along…in his arms.

Viviana's Review:

Book 3 in the Boudreaux series was a great, simple, and easy read.  It flowed great, both in the storytelling and characters.  Declan has always intrigued me as the sarcastic, yet quiet and easygoing brother of the Boudreaux family.  Loved that he did his own thing and not what others expected of him.  That he was a sexy musician didn’t hurt, either...lol.

Callie is a no holds barred business owner who inherited the local bar from her father and needs to decide what to do with it.

The chemistry between Callie and Declan is instant and hot and heavy.  However, as Declan is not ready to commit Callie isn’t willing to be just another fling.  The decision to be friends is made, and thus a budding relationship begins.

I loved the “being friends” and getting to know each other.  Callie has many reservations but I loved that she knew her value and wasn’t willing to let things be “in hopes” things would change.  I also loved that the both of them had several things in common yet had their own things going on, able to support one another but be on their own.

Narrators - both continue to do a fabulous job with the characters.  They each bring their own unique talents to the story enhancing the reader’s experiences.

Overall, a great continuation of the series and I cannot wait for the next book!

Rating: 4 Stars - LOVED IT

AudioBook Review: Revealed To Him by Jen Frederick

Revealed to Him
(Kerr Chronicles Series #3)
by Jen Frederick
Narrators: Sebastian York and Carly Robins

Blurb:
Handsome and tough Jake Tanner, a veteran and the owner of a successful security firm, never lets his past hold him back. Despite his prosthetic hand and foot, women swoon over him—and with him between the sheets. Yet Jake feels bored and restless…until he’s hired to protect a beautiful writer whose life is in terrible danger.

Self-imprisoned by the fear of the anonymous stalkers who threaten her life, video-game writer Natalie Beck now only dreams of the world outside her pink-bedecked apartment. Trusting people again is off-limits. But the more time Jake spends with her, the more his professional commitment evolves from simple duty to scorching desire. While deeply sensual sparks ignite between the two, the danger outside circles closer. Will Jake’s intense devotion be enough to save Natalie? Or will she turn away from the one man willing to do anything to save her?

Viviana's Review:
I'll be completely honest here... I never meant to read "Reveal To Him", but I accidentally click on the widget and I got approved. The idea of the story was okay but it wasn't jumping out to me and I hadn't read the previous books in the series so I wasn't sure if it would be an issue or not. Also, I've read one or two books by the author in the past and they have been okay. With "so many books, so little time", I didn't want to take on a book I wasn't going to be all giddy about wanting to read. However, I got approved and I'm a girl of her word. I was happy to learn that Sebastian York was narrating the audiobook and so I purchased it to see if I'd like it better in audiobook version.

I was pleasantly surprised at the beginning not only by the narrators, but by the characters, and story itself! Jake, while an alpha male is very sweet and funny. He is sincere and patient. Natalie is quirky and cute in that she can be your BFF. She is smart and sassy.
While Natalie is suffering with a mental disorder, Jake has a physical limitations in that he has two prosthetic limbs. Though Jake is significantly further along in his recovery there are still things he must 'deal with' when it comes to people and how they see him.

The heroine is agoraphobic due to stalkers and an assault. She is currently an author but was originally a 'screen writer' for a game. Jen, the author, address two very important topics with the heroine and the situation - Natalie, an original game developer is obviously female, in a male dominated industry. The amount of backlash she received upon people, fans, gamers and peers, finding out her gender exists true today. Then Natalie becomes an author in the Scifi genre which again, is typically read and written by males and due to this, she feels she must use a gender neutral name, however one many believe to be male. While the issue was address in the fact that it was mentioned, that's it. Natalie doesn't deal nor "fight" to remain a gamer in the industry nor does she let her readers know her true identity for her author persona. I think while the issue is a great one to bring up, if the character isn't going to 'do something about it" then what's the point?

Unfortunately, there is INSTA-LOVE... while in the beginning of the story, they seem to be getting to know each other, and that is what I was enjoying the most. Their conversations. Then when they finally get together, OMG, it's like "You're MY EVERYTHING" Dude, it's been a week. Take a second! Then there's the forgotten matter of the finding who is now stalking Natalie... yeah, it seems to have gone to the back burner. Then it's rushed at the end and it's a bit obvious and disappointing.

Narrator's Review: Both Sebastian and Carly did an amazing job! Carly brought the character of Natalie to life. Sebastian brings the sexiness of the males to the forefront. I wish that they each would read their own gender (i.e. Carly the female characters and Sebastian the males) at the same time. THAT would be awesome.

Overall, it was a good audiobook as the narrators really did their jobs in bringing that extra dimension to the story. I'm sort of curious about the next book IF it's about Jake's sister and his friend....
