Blog Tour: DARK HUNGER by Christine Feehan

New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan's Carpathian classic goes manga—this edition of Dark Hunger includes the original novella which inspired the manga and a new note from the author!

Christine Feehan has reinvented the vampire novel with her #1 New York Times bestselling Carpathian novels. Now, she and Berkley take her “out-of-the-ordinary” (Booklist) series in a thrilling direction that’s more graphic than ever....

He is Riordan...Carpathian male. Immortal. Seer. Now trapped and cage, his honor is compromised by his captors. They’re in his mind. They’re in his blood. And not one can withstand his desire for revenge.

She is Juliette...A beautiful activist devoted to the liberation of animals from the foul and humid confines of a secret, jungle lab. What she has stumbled upon is unexpected—a prisoner like no other she has ever seen. Or touched.

She will release him from his bonds. He will release her from her inhibitions. Each has a voracious appetite that must be sated....

DARK HUNGER was first published in 2004 as a novella in the anthology, Hot Blooded. Readers can now experience Feehan’s Carpathian classic as never before with this stunning edition, which includes the original novella which inspired the manga and a new note from the author.

Viviana's Review:
I had read the novella when it initially came out. The Manga provides a different feel as you're "seeing" the character. Thus enhancing the story a bit. This is an awesome addition for fans of Christine Feehan!

Rating: 4 Stars - I REALLY LIKED IT

About The Author

I live on the beautiful Northern California coast and draw much inspiration from the beauty around me. I've always been a writer, for as long as I remember. My sisters were forced to read all of my books from the time I could write a story on paper.

I love family. I love my brothers and sisters, my children, my grandchildren and my great grandchildren. My home was always full of kids and children give me so much joy.

I also love my "sisters of the heart", those friends who have supported me through my life, laughed with me, cried with me and loved me regardless of how crazy my life got. I am a strong supporter of women helping each other which is why I became a third degree black belt and taught self-defense to women who'd been abused.

I love people and dogs, good books and great coffee and I'm lucky to know just how blessed I am.

Audiobook Review: Time to Lie by Phil Taylor

Time to Lie
(Landon Bridges' Story, Book 1)
By Phil Taylor
Narrated by Jeffrey Kafer

Blurb

Remember that time you dated that complete nutcase and said to yourself, "I wish Future Me would have come back and warned me about this"? Remember when you and your drunk friends said, "If it's such a bad idea, someone would come back from the future and stop us", right before it blew up in your face and got you in trouble? It would be great to have someone from the future to guide your life, wouldn't it?

Landon Bridges' life hasn't always been perfect, but now he's in college and determined to make a fresh start and transform himself from high school geek to college chic...well, less geeky guy. He's finally attained his life-long goal of studying physics in college under a renowned professor. He's met the girl of his dreams and made friends with some of the cool frat guys. Things are going great, until he shows up.

A mysterious stranger intervenes to help Landon out of a terrible, possibly life changing situation, but what does he want? Why does he keep showing up? Who is he? Landon's esteemed professor suddenly seems like a flake. Landon's briefly idyllic college world seems to be spinning out of control. Landon needs to control his world and, in the process of regaining his sanity and his grip on reality, he discovers that he has talents and allies that he never imagined. But is what they're telling him the truth?

The truth is just the lie we've chosen to believe, and yours may be different than mine.

Viviana's Review:
I really enjoyed TIME TO LIE. Landon was a hoot! His internal monologue was a riot! I also loved how the fourth wall was broken a few times.

We are in the same boat as Landon is when it comes to learning about his talents. This helps with the "showing" vs. "telling" of the story. We go along for the ride as Landon does and its an interesting ride! This was a unique take on the "time traveling" concept, which I throughly enjoyed.

Take the time travel element away and you still have good, solid story of college student finding his path in life and how those he surrounds himself with impact his life and choices! However, the time travel element adds volumes to the interactions and relationships once the twists and turns are revealed!!

This is a perfect example of when a good story is paired with an awesome narrator! Jeffrey's brilliant performance elevated the story and added a layer of realism to the characters! He provides distinct voices to every character and it was easy to follow them around.

Overall, this story had action, mystery, suspense, romance and it all made for a great story. I wanted more when the end was reached! I can't wait for the second book!!

Rating: 4 Stars - Loved It!!

Audio Book Review: Midnight Soul by Kristen Ashley

Viviana's Review:
OMG! Did not disappoint! MIDNIGHT SOUL was a story the readers wanted and yearned for! I can only image the number of emails and social media messages Kristen must have received inquiring about Noc and Franka! Kristen delivered 100% and then some! This was truly a story for the fans/readers.

While some will that the previous books in the series could be read as a standalone, I'd suggest you read the whole series. Especially before starting MIDNIGHT SOUL. In order to get a true sense of everything that has occurred from the main series arc to the growth and development of all the couples in the series. All the previous couples make an appearance and contribute to the story and I LOVED getting to know more of each of their story.

Franka has been a character we met in the first book and many would say she was the definition of "evil" and "mean" but there always seemed to be an underlining sadness to her. You wondered if she was truly so self-centered or if there was more to it. Kristen does a phenomenal job in creating a character that readers fall for and hope that they get their story.

One of the many things I LOVED about this story is that this is Franka's & Noc's story. There isn't a BIG BAD creature about to end the world or fill in the blank. What you have is two individuals learning more about themselves as well as each other. One is convinced evil lives in their heart, the other sees what is truly there and is convinced that with time and patience, so will everyone else.

Without giving anything else, there are several parts throughout that had me laughing out loud. One was when Frank first sees a high heel shoe and when she tries them on. The other, Franka's arrival in New Orleans. She had the same 'first impression' as I did. It was completely on point!! Again, this is classic Kristen Ashley and showcases her writing skills!!

Narrator Review: Tillie Hooper was truly the perfect choice for this series! She brings an extra layer to the already wonderful characters. She does a great job of providing unique tones, voices and accents to each and every character and this series has a vast array of characters.

Overall, this was truly a wonderful addition and conclusion to the series. Kristen provides her readers with an inside look to each of her beloved characters and closure. I highly recommend this series as it provides the reader with a breath of fresh air to the genre, strong heroines, sexy alpha heroes and imaginative and entertaining stories.

Blog Tour and Giveaway: Not Quite Perfect by Catherine Bybee

Hi Everyone! I'm excited to have Author Catherine Bybee with us today.

NOT QUITE PERFECT is the fifth book in the "Not Quite Series" though it can be read as a standalone! I really enjoyed this story as I have all of Catherine's books that I've read. There is a great bantering and conversations between all of the characters. The different relationships and the depth of the friendships shows through the pages.

Catherine knows how to tell a story. Her gift with words and way of showing the reader what is going on vs. "telling" shines through in NOT QUITE PERFECT.

If you love/like contemporary romances that have great characters and story line, Catherine Bybee is a go to author!!

Not Quite Perfect
(Not Quite Series, Bk #5)
By Catherine Bybee

Blurb:
New York Times bestselling author Catherine Bybee delivers the fifth heartwarming, flirty novel in the wildly popular Not Quite series.

Mary Kildare knows how to read people. It’s both why she makes a great therapist and why she refuses to trust the average bachelor. Staying fiercely independent has been her primary relationship strategy—until wealthy playboy pilot (and commitmentphobe) Glen Fairchild reappears in her life. After a yearlong teasing tug-of-war, Mary and Glen test the waters of attraction, only to find that their physical chemistry runs deeper than flirtation.

At first, a bicoastal romance suits them both—especially since Glen can swoop in and whisk Mary away on one of his company’s planes. But no matter how close they get, they’re still three thousand miles apart. And when Mary’s life is threatened, Glen realizes the one luxury he doesn’t have is time. Can he close the distance between them before it’s too late?

Book Review: Doing It Over by Catherine Bybee

Doing It Over
(Most Likely To Series, #1)
by Catherine Bybee

Blurb:

Voted Most Likely to Succeed, Melanie Bartlett ended up anything but. The down-on-her-luck single mom wants a complete do-over—is that too much to ask? With her family long gone from River Bend, strong, independent Mel is as surprised as anyone to end up in the quaint small town she once called home. But with her friends, Jo and Zoe, by her side, and a comfortable room at Miss Gina’s quirky bed-and-breakfast, she just might have turned the corner on a new life.

Wyatt Gibson never liked the big city. River Bend suits the ruggedly handsome builder just fine. Wyatt knows he’s home, even if that means being charmed by the appearance of Melanie and her spunky, adorable daughter. Is Wyatt’s calm devotion—even amid a coming storm—enough to convince Mel she may have found a home to call her own, a family that never leaves, and a true love to last a lifetime?

Viviana's Review:
A great start to a new series. Catherine creates a town filled with characters readers will not only connect with but will also fall for! I also love the premise of the story of three friends who were given labels or expectations back in high school and things truly turned out.

I really loved all the characters and look forward to learning more about them all. The heroine and hero are great in "Doing It Over". They have a slow burn romance for various reasons and it totally works and adds to the story telling!

Though this is Mel's and Wyatt's story, we get to know their friends and family members. Catherine did a phenomenal job with setting up the rest of the series! Makes you eagerly wait for the next installment.

I love Catherine's writing style and how she shows you the story vs. "tell you". "Doing It Over" is great example of a contemporary romance that contains elements of suspense!

Overall, a great beginning to the series!
