About The Author

A stay-at-home mom for twenty-one years, J. (Jill) Bengtsson’s debut novel, Cake A Love Story, was written for fun after she’d read a disappointing romance and felt she could do better. Just wanting feedback on her story, Jill released Cake onto Amazon and watched in stunned disbelief as the book took flight. Within a month of its release, Cake was a bestselling novel… and all that before she’d even told her family she’d written a book.

Now a full time author, Jill writes contemporary novels focused on love, humor, passion, and family. Her heroines are strong, nurturing, and quirky while her heroes are what dreams are made of - gorgeous, committed, and in need of a little saving. With her novels, you will rediscover the rush and joy of falling in love.

Audiobook Review: A Few Pecans Short Of A Pie by Molly Harper

A Few Pecans Short of a Pie
(Southern Eclectic Book 5)
By Molly Harper
Narrated by Amanda Ronconi

Blurb:
Sexy school principal Kyle faces the biggest challenge of his career: getting his (pregnant) event planner girlfriend Margot down the aisle before the baby arrives!

Fans first fell in love with big city event planner Margot in the first Southern Eclectic novel, Sweet Tea and Sympathy, as she discovered a long-lost branch of her family - the McCreadys, of McCready's Bait Shop & Funeral Home.

To Margot's surprise, she's taken a liking to life in small-town Georgia...helped along by a romance with the hot elementary school principal. The two of them have been taking it slow - or they were until Margot gets pregnant. Kyle wants to make an honest woman of her, but Margot's still trying to proceed with caution. After all, she was the best event planner in Chicago before she ever came to Lake Sackett. Her wedding has to be perfect, and perfect includes not having the baby halfway down the aisle.

With her trademark witty prose and warmhearted storytelling, Molly Harper's newest glimpse of the McCready family will be perfect for fans of Christina Lauren and Amy E. Reichert.

There are lots of laughs and moments of sweetness. Just plan fun overall!

This is a great continuation of Margot's & Kyle's story and a fantastic glimpse of the next book where Duffy is the hero!! Woohooo!

April spun around. “Ointment and lube are not the same.” She wrinkled her nose. “Why do you smell like… Exactly what is that smell?”

He organized a few boxes of bandages on the shelf. “Ran into an older lady who couldn’t decide which lotion she wanted to give her husband, so she rubbed it all over my neck and took a whiff.”
April bubbled with laughter and gripped the opening of his leather jacket. “You’re such a nice guy. That’s why I fell in love with you.”

“I thought it was my six-pack.” His eyes glittered with amusement as he looked down at her with pure adoration in those coffee-brown eyes. Reno was a big guy with a tough demeanor, but he had a heart of gold beneath that macho exterior. He could melt her heart with a single glance, and he was thoughtful in ways that most men weren’t.

Dance of Desire - RWB Teaser 2

EXCERPT:

“What time was it last night when you saw the moon?” she’d asked him.

“Past midnight.”

“But you only went to bed at eleven.”

“I couldn’t sleep.”

They both knew what thoughts were keeping him awake, thoughts of his father’s drinking and of how crazy his mother was going trying to rein it all in.

“Wake me up next time,” she’d told him. “I’ll keep you company.”

Such simple words, but she’d felt like she was jumping off the edge of a cliff when she’d said them. Instead of answering, Caleb gave her a long look as he fiddled with the leg of his shorts. She’d silently cursed herself, called herself an idiot and worse.

Caleb was just a friend. Honestly, he wasn’t even that, was he? Circumstances had thrown them together, that was all. He was the son of her father’s best friend, so they were basically like distant cousins, only with no shared blood in their veins. Crazy of her to think there might be more there.

If her friends could see her now, they’d probably laugh at her; the same friends who’d swooned that day her father had picked her up from school with Caleb in the passenger seat of his truck, and Caleb, wearing a Stetson that was about a half-size too big for his head, had given them a cocky grin, looked right into her eyes and said, Afternoon, pretty lady. Not afternoon pretty ladies, even though she’d had about four other girls standing on the curb next to her when he’d said it.

Clearly she’d made way too much of that moment. Sometimes afternoon just meant, afternoon and pretty lady was what a guy called you when he was trying to look cool.

Or so she’d thought earlier that day. Before he took her up on her offer and woke her up in the middle of the night so they could look at the moon together.

Which they do.

Because it’s beautiful.

When he lowers his right hand, the same hand with which he was just pointing to the night sky, her breath catches. Every muscle in her body tenses in anticipation.

Where will it land?

Book Review: A Bluestocking Christmas by Monica Burns

A Bluestocking Christmas
by Monica Burns

Blurb:

WARNING: An intelligent, well-read hero who uses illicit wordplay to get what he wants meets a librarian resistant to his words of seduction until the ghost of Christmas past comes calling.

Sinful words, wicked pleasures and a ghost all add up to A Bluestocking Christmas with a Dickens of a twist.

But Ivy Beecham is a far cry from his preconceived notions, and he’s determined to have her. But when she rejects him, it only increases his determination to seduce her into a world of sin and pleasure.

Ivy Beecham knows first-hand that handsome aristocrats like Simon can’t be trusted. But the intellectual scoundrel is hellbent on making her his mistress, using every means at his seductive disposal. When she refuses to give away her heart on Christmas Eve, a ghostly specter shows her in one night why her surrender can be the greatest gift of all.

Viviana's Review:
This was a great holiday read. Sophisticated and intellegent! This novella is a beautiful love story about leaving to trust and allowing others into their live and heart.

Simon is an aristocrat who has had his heart broken by a woman he loved when he was younger. This woman also happened ot be "common". Ever since then, his opinion of woman is one that isn't high.

Ivy has had her own heart broken by an aristocrat and similar to Simon has a bad opinion of all aristocrats. She will not allow him and his sudcutive workds to penetrate her walls.

As the blurb says, there's a Dicken's twist. This adds that holiday charm and a bit of mystery. This is a Monica Burns book so there are some sexy, steamy scenes. however, they are classy and fit well for the story.

Overall, a great quick read to put you in the holiday mood.

Rating: 4 Stars - Loved It

Book Review: Beg Me (Steele Brothers #4) by Jennifer Probst

Beg Me
(Steele Brothers Series, #4)

She begs him to take her for one night, and Remington finally agrees. Will they get a second chance at love, or are the scars from their past too deep to heal?

ADVISORY: THIS IS A SHORT EROTIC NOVELLA WITH BDSM ELEMENTS. THIS IS NOT INTENDED FOR READERS UNDER 18 YEARS OLD. HAS BEEN REVISED TO INCLUDE ADDITIONAL SCENES.

Viviana's Review:
BEG ME is the fourth book in the “Steele Brothers Series” however; it’s the first book in the series I’ve read. Good news is that they can be read as a standalone. BEG ME is a second chance romance novella with BDSM elements. Well… hold on… while the blurb and some of the other reviews state ‘BDSM elements” the truth is this is a BDSM series. The brothers are all Doms, except one who is a sub. The relationships involve and include BDSM and the lifestyle. The good news is that Jennifer, the author, has done her research.

I’ll admit it… I was curious to see how the novella would turn out…. Will it be filled with steamy sex scene and be low on story/plot? Or will it feel rushed? Would things be glossed over? I’m happy to say I really enjoyed this novella! Jennifer did a fantastic job of sharing Rem’s and Cara’s past with the reader while they try to figure out if they have a future. In between, they had the hot, steamy scenes. Both Rem and Cara are great characters; Rem is a sexy Dom who knows what he wants but believes he lost it years ago and hopes he may find it once again and Cara is in self-acceptance mode and seeking her limitations with hopes that Rem will be there with her.

Without spoiling it… I must say I LOVED Cara’s reason for leaving. Or rather that she knew she needed to do it vs. just ‘letting things be’ or ‘accepting’. I loved that she told Rem what she needed to do. Granted, sucks that hearts were broken, but this reason is one of the best ones I’ve read in a while vs. gossip of cheating or misinterpretation that could have been fixed if the couple just spoke to each other.

Overall, a great quick read with a full story and great characters.

Rating: 3.5 Stars - I Really Liked It

Book Review: Dragon King by Donna Grant

Dragon King:A Dark Kings Novella
(1001 Dark Nights)
By Donna Grant

Blurb:

A Woman On A Mission

Grace Clark has always done things safe. She's never colored outside of the law, but she has a book due and has found the perfect spot to break through her writer's block. Or so she thinks. Right up until Arian suddenly appears and tries to force her away from the mountain. Unaware of the war she just stumbled into, Grace doesn't just discover the perfect place to write, she finds Arian - the most gorgeous, enticing, mysterious man she's ever met.

A King With a Purpose

Arian is a Dragon King who has slept away centuries in his cave. Recently woken, he's about to leave his mountain to join his brethren in a war when he's alerted that someone has crossed onto Dreagan. He's ready to fight...until he sees the woman. She's innocent and mortal - and she sets his blood aflame. He recognizes the danger approaching her just as the dragon within him demands he claim her for his own...

Available for purchase at

Viviana's Review:
A new Dragon King has to be awoken to fight in the upcoming war.  You can imagine his surprise when he finds a woman typing away on her laptop too engrossed in what she is writing to notice she is no longer alone.

And so the story of Arian and Grace.  While it’s a novella and I was a tad bit concerned…  let me take a step back… I love this series!  I love how Donna has kept her readers guessing about a certain Fae and Dragon King and the world she has created.  My concern was more along the lines of wanting things to continue to progress and how things were going to fit onto less pages.  As a reader you want certain characters to make an appearance or a substory to continue and that has been the case with all the previous books.  Not so the case here which is how a story fits into a “novella”.  This novella is entirely only about Arian and Grace!  It works and we get to know them and their story.  While we may miss the rest of the cast of characters they will be back soon.

Speaking of characters, Con is in this one and we do get to know more about him and confirmation, if we needed it, that he is an Asshole is provided in this installment.  One question that we have all been dying to know or rather confirm is asked but in true Con form he doesn’t reply but his actions do.

Back to Arian and Grace… For a second I wondered if Grace was inspired by Donna herself or a fellow writer friend, you see, from the blurb she’s a writer suffering from writer’s block and finds inspiration in Arian’s cave!

There is instant chemistry and that feeling of “yeah I feel safe with you” and “I trust you even though I just met you” going on between the two.  The story is a nice mix of getting to know each other and steaminess.

This was a good read to hold us over until the next Dark King book release.  There weren’t any major revelations, but it is a good story.  The kind where readers know the world and characters and want to see what’s going on.  Of course we end up wanting more.  Or in my case IMing Kelly from Books-n-Kisses and chatting about how much of an ass Con is.  Of if we think Donna will tell us who is Rhy’s Dragon King, LOL.

Rating: 4 Stars - LOVED IT
