1. The main musical inspiration for each of the books (aka the songs I listened to the most while writing them) were:
Overruled – Gonna Wanna Tonight by Chase Rice
Sustained – Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon
Appealed – Bet My Life by Imagine Dragons
Sidebarred – Walls by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers

2. In the very first outline for OVERRULED, Stanton, Sofia, Jake and Brent were still law students, not practicing defense attorneys.
3. The stomach virus scenes in SUSTAINED were inspired by actual events.
4. There’s an alternate beginning to APPEALED which can only be found as a sneak peek in the back of SUSTAINED. This beginning was later revised/edited.
5. The song Jake sings at the end of SIDEBARRED is Night Changes by One Direction.
