Medusa's Birthday Bash Blog Tour: Ariston Interview

Welcome to Viviana, Enchantress of Books Ariston. We are extremely grateful to Hades for allowing you to travel to meet with us today.  Please have a seat. May I offer you anything to eat or drink before we begin?

I thank you, no.

When we first meet you, you are already in love with Medusa. Tell us about the first time you saw her?

The first time I saw her, I’d been summoned to Councilman Galenus’ home. I was none too pleased to have been assigned her escort. My training made me more valuable on the battlefront, but I knew of the Persian plot to rouse Athens’ citizens into action. And while they are barbarians, kidnapping Athen’s priestess-chosen by the Goddess Athena herself- ‘twas a good ploy.

Seeing her, those eyes watching me over her veils (he shakes his head) - I would not leave her unprotected. And for that, being chosen to protect her, I thank Athena.

How was it for you to be so close and yet not be able to express your feelings towards Medusa?

Necessary. My pledge to Athena was my vow, one I’d not break. Nor would my lady turn from her duty to Athena. There were times when a look from her was as potent as her touch... Or so I thought.

As we get to know you, we learn that you are a very honorable and loyal man. As you said, your pledge to Athena was your vow. The same can be said regarding your love and relationship with Medusa.

My father deserves your praise, not me. He is the most honorable and loyal man I’ve ever known, a man that inspires and leads through example. My service to Athens and Olympus was his doing. But Medusa... she is the only thing I have ever wanted, selfishly.

Thea is very protective of Medusa and is also extremely particular about who she allows to be near. She hasn’t been too kind to Elpis even though she and Medusa are friends, yet you, well, she likes you. Why do you suppose that is?

We are, both of us, hunters. She knows, like her, I would do and give all to keep our lady safe.

For a warrior and a man of your times (lets face it, back then women didn’t have much of a say in things that involved them or anything else for that matter), you are extremely gentle and loving. You respected Medusa and cherished her. Was that something that was taught or part of your upbringing. Did you learn by examples, and if so whom?

My parents were devoted and loving, in their own way. In truth, I think it was Medusa. It was her example, for she loves wholly. She deserves such love. (he smiles) How could I not treat her so?

In the short time that you and Medusa were together, both of you had to go through several obstacles (as individuals and as a couple), yet through it all both of you held strong to each other and the love for one another. What advice would you give couples today, when they are faced with obstacles or issues in their relationships?

(He frowns) If your love is true, you cannot desert it. If it is true, fight through your despair, every challenge, and let your heart lead.

There were two instances (that pop into my head immediately) where you made a great sacrifice in order to be with Medusa. Trying not to give spoilers here just in case someone hasn’t read your story yet. Not many would have been okay with accepting things and/or doing what you did.

My lady was in danger. They were not sacrifices but means to reach her.

Has Medusa told you about what occurred during the time of her curse? Has she come to terms with things? Is she okay with it now?

There is none more full of love or forgiveness than Medusa. She grieved for those that suffered at her hand, but Hades and Persephone eased her mind. Now, she is joyful. She smiles, laughs, dances... She... we are happy and peaceful.

In Greek Mythology, Medusa is known as a monster that was born not a beautiful priestess that was cursed. What would you have Medusa be known for?

She should be remembered for love - all was done for love.

Can you tell us about the Elysian Fields, where you and Medusa live now?

A perfect day - always. Blue skies, crisp breezes, bountiful harvest, crystal waters, star-laden nights... with my wife at my side. (He smiles) What more could a man want or need? We are blessed to have Hades protection and a home such as ours.

What is the one thing you would want those that read your story to come away with?

Before you think of my lady as time and myth has painted her, hear her story and know the truth. There is none more deserving of Elysium. I am honored to love her, to stay at her side.

Thank you again Ariston, for visiting with us and sharing your story. I loved “Medusa, A Love Story”! Safe journey home. Please give my thanks and love to Medusa!

I shall. My thanks to you Enchantress Viviana.

Medusa, A Love Story
(Loves of Olympus Series, Bk #1)
By Sasha Summers

Synopsis:
It's said love can change a person. Medusa wasn't always a monster...

Medusa is ruled by duty, to her Titan father and the Goddess Athena. She's no room for the tenderness her warrior guard, Ariston, stirs. When Olympus frees her from service, her heart leads her into the arms of the guard she loves... and curses her as the creature with serpent locks.

Ariston goes to war with a full heart... and dreadful foreboding. He learns too late of the danger Medusa faces, alone, and a Persian blade sends him into the Underworld. But death, curses, nor the wrath of the Gods will keep him from returning to her.

Poseidon will use Greece's war to get what he wants: Medusa. He does not care that she belongs to another. He does not care that she will be damned. He is a God, an Olympian, and she will be his.

About the Author
Sasha is part gypsy. Her passions have always been storytelling, Hollywood, history, and travel. It’s no surprise that her books include a little of each. Her first play, ‘Greek Gods and Goddesses’ was written for her Girl Scout troupe. She’s been writing ever since. She loves getting lost in the worlds and characters she creates; even if she frequently forgets to run the dishwasher or wash socks when she’s doing so. Luckily, her four brilliant children and hero-inspiring hubby are super understanding and supportive.
