Staff Reviewers

I'm extremely happy and grateful to have the following Staff Reviewers as part of Enchantress of Books!

Paul D. Izzo, Jr., MS
Hometown: New Haven, Connecticut.  Currently resides in Orlando, FL with his beautiful, intelligent, and talented better half (his wife).

I am a Spanish teacher, and I like anything medieval, reading good books (horror, PNR – my first series was J. R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series, historical fiction, anything by Dan Brown and, occasionally, biographies), watching movies (especially horror – the scarier the better), and building things with my own hands.

I am also into music – I listen to many different types (Metallica, Fleetwood Mac, the Beatles, Pantera, Sarah McLachlan, etc.) and I dabble in guitar.

Nina Lillard
Hometown: Born in Brazil, currently residing in VA and married to the smartest, most loving, and charming Prince in all of the kingdoms. I'm including this in here because no matter where we go, he is and has always been my home!

Occupation: For a living, I manage a small tax accounting office; and in my spare time I enjoy supporting the authors that have impressed me by their ability to create magic with their words. One of the ways I do that is by bringing readers together and finding fun ways that we can share the love and excitement for the books that fascinate us, as well as expressing our creativity and debating our ideas in a friendly and positive environment.

As a reader, I am a slow one. I make an effort to absorb all that I can, get really cozy with the characters and all that they go through. I'm analytical, impatient, and because I read at the speed of sleepy slugs I must be selective with my choices (or else would never get anything else done). Which reminds me, thank goodness for audiobooks! Fabulous source of entertainment and sometimes a better experience than just the story itself. A good narrator performing a great book can make me not mind being stuck at the airport or at a very long line at the grocery store. Everyone should try it at least once, in my opinion.

Aside from books and a passion for discovering new authors, I enjoy watching MMA (mixed martial arts), action movies/ TV shows, soft music, and sometimes just plain silence. I haven't learned the art to fully relax yet but I keep trying!

I’m quirky, have a “healthy obsession” with order, and I’m not a fan of odd numbers (maybe this could be encompassed in the “quirky” part so it’s not uneven). Sometimes I succeed in leaving things uneven ;)

Favorite Genres: I tend to be a "when the mood strikes" type of reader.
I enjoy legal thrillers, paranormal romance, urban fantasy, mystery, and I don't mind at all when the author encompasses more than one genre in their story, especially if they showcase their versatility by inserting humor and clever banter to enhance their story.. I find it refreshing when I get a book that brings me an element that I'm not expecting at first.

Favorite Book/ Authors: In no particular order, here are some of my top favorites:
The Mageri Series, The Seven Series (both by Dannika Dark); The Chosen Series, The Rose Gardner Mysteries (both by Denise Grover Swank); The Allie Beckstrom Series, broken Magic Series (both by Devon Monk); The Chronicles of Elantra (by Michelle Sagara); The Caged Series (by Amber Lynn Natusch); Most of John Grisham's books – (too many to list but save those based on Sports); Mr. Monk Series (by Lee Goldberg/ Hy Conrad); Present Perfect (by Alison Bailey); The Iron Druid Series (by Kevin Hearne); Secret Sister (by Emelle Gamble); Ghost-in-Law Series (by Jana DeLeon); The Fold, 14 (both by Peter Clines).

Candie Platel aka candicedear
Hometown: Philadelphia, PA born and raised. Currently residing in a suburb just 20 minutes outside of the city.

Since this is my first blog post ever, I won’t flatter myself with the title of blogger. I will tell you that I am a book-a-holic and a voracious reader. I've had my nose in a book ever since I can remember. It’s my #1 form of escapism.  Sometimes I think that I read too fast and that I need to slow down and enjoy the books more.

I love all types of novels and genres. My current go to genres are: paranormal romance/urban fantasy/historical/contemporary/erotic romances.

Some of my favorite books are: Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, High Fidelity by Nick Hornby, It by Stephen King, The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty (SCARY!!!) The Witching Hour by Anne Rice, The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning, Charley Davidson Series by Darynda Jones, Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer, The Mortal Instruments & Infernal Devices Series by Cassandra Clare, Wicked Lovely Series by Melissa Marr, Tithe by Holly Black, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, The Siren by Tiffany Reisz.

In addition my love of reading, I’m really into music. I have over 100GB of music on my Macbook and the number of songs grows every day.

Thanks to Viviana, Enchantress of Books for graciously hosting my first book review on her fabulous site!
