Audiobook Review: Dragon Burn By Donna Grant

Dragon Burn
(A Dark Kings Novella)
by Donna Grant
Narrated by Antony Ferguson

Blurb:
In this scorching Dark Kings novella, New York Times best-selling author Donna Grant brings together a determined Dragon King used to getting what he wants and an Ice Queen who thaws for no one.

Marked by passion

A promise made eons ago sends Sebastian to Italy on the hunt to find an enemy. His quarry proves difficult to locate, but there is someone who can point him in the right direction - a woman as frigid as the north. Using every seductive skill he's acquired over his immortal life, his seduction begins. Until he discovers that the passion he stirs within her makes him burn for more....

Gianna Santini has one love in her life - work. A disastrous failed marriage was evidence enough to realize she was better off on her own. That is until a handsome Scot strolled into her life and literally swept her off her feet. She is unprepared for the blazing passion between them or the truth he exposes. But as her world begins to unravel, she realizes the only one she can depend on is the very one destroying everything - a Dragon King.

Viviana's Review:
A quick read that moves the overall arc slightly forward and I do mean slightly. This is the 11.5th book in a series that has begun to drag, unfortunately. I LOVED this series, unfortunately, it seems like Donna, the author is trying to appease readers in the "writing more stories" in this world vs. completing the series which would provide the readers with the much desired questions to their answers and maybe create another spin off. There is no doubt that Donna is a great story teller and has created both a world and characters that readers love. For me, I think its an issue of finally learning who Rhi's Dragon King and how things will end.

The story has the usual Sexy Dragon King who declares how love isn't for them, a heroine who happens to be able to provide some sort of answer to what the Dragon Kings are seeking. SIDE NOTE: these are the two factors that keep repeating over and over again in all (if not most) of the previous 11 books. and as soon as I read it in this one, I sighed in frustration. Back to the story, the usual Sexy Dragon King, Heroine being used to further the Kings cause, sexy time, action between the good guys and the bad ones. Then we get closer to the end where we learn a little something new and end of story.

Though it says that this can be read as a standalone and it totally can, but I think readers would get more out of the story if they have read the previous books.

Narrator's Review:
Antony has narrated the entire series and continues to rock! His performance is great, providing each male character with their own voices and he does a really good job with the female characters. Its not overly done.

Overall, its a good read and better than "okay". I am looking forward to see what the next full length book brings.

Rating: 2.5 Stars - It was better than Okay :)
