Guest Post & Giveaway: Stop at Nothing by Kate SeRine

Please welcome author Kate SeRine! I'm thrilled to have her here with us today as she lets us know what is her favorite thing about writing a series that follows a set of brothers?

Writing a series about four brothers and getting the chance to explore their relationships with each other and to their father is a blast! I have two younger sisters with whom I’m extremely close, and I come from a huge, tight-knit extended family. There’s no shortage of drama in a family like mine, but there’s also unconditional love and loyalty that sustains us. I love exploring the various family dynamics, especially the dynamics between siblings.

Another reason is that with brothers you have a lot of built in potential for conflict. There are sibling rivalries—whether they all realize it or not—that affect their interactions with one another and can sometimes become pretty fierce and make for great plot lines. There’s also a sense of loyalty and unconditional love that allows brothers to argue and fight one minute but then band together when an outsider threatens one of them.

And there’s obviously a long, shared history there that I can incorporate into their backstories which allows me to explore how differently those experiences affected each brother. This shared history can be a source of comfort or a source of conflict—sometimes both.

In the case of my Protect & Serve series, a family tragedy that occurred years before events in the novel has affected each of the Dawson brothers differently. That single, life-altering event has shaped each man’s perspective on life and love. The tragedy has also dramatically influenced each man’s relationship with their father—a formidable, emotionally closed-off law enforcement hero who casts a very long shadow. The father/son relationship is a central theme in the prequel novella as well as in each of the novels.

And one of my favorite things about writing a series that follows four brothers is that’s it’s easy to believe that a particular family hit the gene pool lottery to produce four incredibly hot, sexy, alpha men. ;)

I hope everyone enjoys meeting the Dawson brothers and falls in love with them as much as I have!
