Book Review (Audio): Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet by Darynda Jones

Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet
(The Charley Davidson Series, Bk #4)
By Darynda Jones

Narrated by Lorelei King

Synopsis:

Sometimes being the grim reaper really is that. Grim. And since Charley’s last case went so awry, she has taken a couple months off to wallow in the wonders of self-pity. But when a woman shows up on her doorstep convinced someone is trying to kill her, Charley has to force herself to rise above. Or at least get dressed. She quickly realizes something is amiss when everyone the woman knows swears she’s insane. The more they refute the woman’s story, the more Charley believes it.

In the meantime, the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, has been cleared of all charges. He is out of prison and out of Charley’s life, as per her wishes and several perfectly timed death threats. But his absence has put a serious crimp in her sex life. While there are other things to consider, like the fact that the city of Albuquerque has been taken hostage by an arsonist, Charley is having a difficult time staying away. Especially when it looks like Reyes may be involved.

In Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet, just when life was returning to normal, Charley is thrust back into the world of crime, punishment, and the devil in blue jeans.

Available to purchase at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Viviana's Review:
Officially my favorite book in the "Charley Davidson" series!! This book has it all; action, adventure, mystery, comedy, great characters, tension between the two leads and steamy sexiness!! What more could a bookaholic want, right?
Darynda draws you into the stories and you fall in love with each of the characters for different reasons (with each character tugging at your heart based on their own unique characteristics/personalities).

All of the characters are back and we find Charley still recovering from the incidents that occurred in "Third Grave Dead Ahead" (nope, not telling you) and trying to adjust to some of the new consequences/results from those incidents. Cookie is her supportive, ultra awesome BFF. Uncle Bob is still a steady constant in Charley's life. Both are their to support Charley and even give her a few "reality checks" when needed.

Charley is a Private Investigator so of course there's a case. This is the first case she's worked on in months. She glad to be back in the swing of things, but is doing it more for the funds ($$). I loved that there were actually 2 separate cases she's involved with; one officially that she's working on and the other that she happened to trip upon.

Sexy and still mysterious Donovan makes an appearance, which I was extremely happy about. I'll admit, I'm totally intrigued and have been since he was first introduced. There's just something about him that grabs me/tugs at me and well, yeah, he's one of my favorites.

Of course Reyes is also back in Charley's life! They are trying or rather, finally starting to figure out what they mean to each other and what does all that entail and what it all means as a whole. Their interactions continue to be witty, sarcastic, sexy and eveny a bit 'cutesy'.

When I first started reading "Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet" the realization of how much I missed Charley and the gang was evident. When I finished the book, I began to miss them all over again. Needless to say that I cannot wait for "Fifth Grave Past the Light"!

Narrator Review: I really enjoy Lorelei's narration of the series! She truly captures each of the character's individual personalities and show cases each of them beautifully! The pace is perfect and well, she does a fantastic job of narrating!

Rating: 5 Stars - Perfection!!
