Blog Tour: Kissed By A Vampire by Caridad Piñiero

Thank you so much Caridad for stopping by and visiting with us today! I’m excited and honored! I was introduced to your work via the “Sin Hunters” series which is fantastic! So of course, I was going to get your latest release “Kiss of a Vampire”.

Viviana: Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself and what inspired you to write in this particular genre?

Caridad: I’m actually surprised that I ended up writing paranormals since as a kid, I was always afraid of horror movies and things that went bump in the night.  Even now I’m still afraid of the dark in certain situations.  So why did I go to the dark side?  I had been writing contemporary romances and wanted to write something very different that had suspense in it.  I figured, why not try something with a vampire and THE CALLING/REBORN series was born.

Viviana: How do you come up with your ideas for your books/series?

Caridad: The ideas really come about from the characters.  I get a really good idea for them and then I try to craft a story that will challenge them.  Sometimes as I’m writing, I’ll learn something about them that I hadn't really expected and I’ll adapt the story to include that.

Viviana: Which Book or Series has been your favorite to write? Why?

Caridad: That’s a tough question.  I love the SINS/SIN HUNTER series because it’s so different and it’s really letting me explore a totally different kind of paranormal.  But Diana Reyes and Ryder Latimer are characters of my heart and they very much belong to THE CALLING/REBORN series.  Readers will see more of their story in BORN TO SERVE (February 2013).

Viviana: Oh will be adding those to my TBR list, thanks! Which was your favorite character to write? Why?

Caridad: I think it’s a tie between Bobbie Carrera in THE LOST and Diana Reyes from THE CALLING.  I like them both for the same reasons:  They are strong women with deep emotional wounds.  In Bobbie’s case, she’s also got physical wounds which really played a big part in the story.  Even though they are both wounded, they will not let life keep them down and I really loved that about them.

Viviana: That's definitely something that I love about your books thus far, your heroine are strong women! Thank you for that!! What does your writing process look like (i.e. are you a plotter)?

Caridad: I used to be a pantser, but am more of a plotter now since I usually do a synopsis first.  Even though I do that, I do allow for wiggle room to adapt the story in case I learn something new from my characters while I am writing.

Viviana: What is it about the paranormal, in particular vampires, that fascinates you so much?

Caridad: I love history and by writing paranormals I get to explore other eras as I craft the back stories for my vampires.  THE CALLING/REBORN series is paranormal suspense and I love being able to mix up stories were the suspense elements are human mysteries with stories where the suspense revolves around the undead world.

Viviana: Please tell us about your latest release.

Caridad: "KISSED BY A VAMPIRE" is the story of a 2000 year old vampiress, Stacia, who doesn't believe that love is possible in her life anymore.  That is until she meets the very honorable and very sexy DEA Agent Alex Garcia.  Stacia is a quite a character after so many years of existence.  On her face, she’s hard and self-involved, but deep inside is a well of humanity she hasn't tapped in a very long time.  I loved being able to draw that out of her in this story.

Viviana: What is your favorite scene from the book? Could you share a little bit of it, without spoilers of course?

Caridad: My favorite scene is the first love scene between Alex and Stacia.  Stacia had a hard life when she was first turned and Alex sees the pain that she associates with love.  The scene is tender and sexy as Alex tries to show Stacia that not all men hurt.

Viviana: That was one of my favorite scenes as well!  What are your guilty pleasures in life?

Caridad: My guilty pleasures are travelling, cooking, and of course, reading!

Viviana:  Seems like we have some things in common! What can readers expect next from you?

Caridad:  In November I have a romantic suspense, THE PRINCE’S GAMBLE, from Entangled Publishing.  It’s a sexy and suspenseful story about a Russian prince who opens up a themed casino in Atlantic City.  When he discovers there may be money-laundering going on, he calls in the FBI, but isn't prepared for his attraction to the female FBI Agent sent to investigate.

Viviana: Oh, that  sound very interesting. Will be adding that to my "Anticipating Releases" page. Thank you again for taking the time to visit with us!! Truly appreciate it!!! Can’t wait for your next release!!

Caridad: Thank you so much for letting me visit!
