Book Review: Lucky Number Four by Amanda Jason

Lucky Number Four
By Amanda Jason

Blurb:
Pandora Ann Phillips' life is just normal-crazy

Her mom's a psychic, her dad's mom is a snob, her mom's parental units are "too down to earth" and her best friends are newlyweds. Okay, so her best friends being newlyweds isn't really abnormal, but living with them in a cramped two-bedroom apartment definitely is. Sex, sex, sex is totally on their minds. Actually it's not only on their minds, but it's on the kitchen table, couch, on top of the washer...well, you get the picture.

Being a celibate (not by choice, mind you) full-time college student, and an almost full-time barista, Pandora can't afford to lose anymore sleep. So, she seeks out a new place to lay her head. Enter three "drool worthy" male models that are looking for a fourth roommate and they want her...and won't take no for an answer.

Hilarity ensues as Pandora's life turns completely upside down, and she begins to wonder if it will ever be the same again!

Viviana's Review:
The cover grabbed my attention from the very beginning! Awesome marketing technique! I've been in touch with Amanda, the author, regarding the timing of the release and getting tidbits here and there and I COULD NOT wait to get my hands this. When I finally did, I couldn't put it down.

Pandora needs a new place to live as her roommates are now newlyweds and well... they are going at it like bunnies. LOL She knows they need their own space and she needs to fend for herself as well. Answering an ad has never been so 'interesting'.

Enter Drew, Collin and Liam!!

One of them has a major crush on Pandora and we get a few glimpses here and there from his POV. So it becomes a "Guess which of the three HOT, Sexy Male Models" has a thing for Pandora!! It was fun trying to guess.I wish we got to know the guys' side of things more. Each have interesting backgrounds and we didn't get to dive into their past at all. Even the one who's crushing on Pandora, we get a bit of 'insight' of him via his POV comments, but it's not enough. There wasn't enough interaction between the guys and Pandora to explain why they thought so highly of her and felt the need to be around her all the time. That was one of the major things this story was missing. This would definitely be a book that having it written from his/their (male models) POV would be a good read!

I will say that one thing I could have done with less of was Pandora constantly saying/thinking of herself as "average" looking and why would a guy as sexy as her three roommates even bother with since you know, she's just so average. I get we are over critical of ourselves and having insecurities is normal, but I don't think it was necessary for her to be so overly critical of herself.

While this is a New Adult Contemporary Comedy, there's a tiny sliver of paranormal weaved into the story line. However, like I said... it's a sliver and not the main focus of the story at all. Pandora is an empath and not a very good one at that. There were a LOT of things she 'missed' but then again, it's not like she fully embraced her gift.

There are two major 'romance tropes' towards the end of the story and I'm sure you can easily guess one, but I will not provide spoilers.

Overall the story is smoothly written and an easy read that is totally entertaining.

Rating: 3 Stars - I REALLY LIKED IT

  1. This one sounds kind of fun! It is annoying when characters harp on things they don't like. We get it without them stating it so often! But the interactions sound fun. Great review!
