Guest Post: Exposing the Heiress by Jennifer Apodaca

I'm extremely excited to have author Jennifer Apodaca with us today talking about her latest release EXPOSING THE HEIRESS! Welcome!!

Thank you Viviana for having me on Viviana, Enchantress of Books today! It’s always a pleasure! So let’s chat about sexy-talking heroes.

While men are visual, women are verbal, expressing emotion in words. So when a man seduces her verbally, it can hot. But the sexy words should also be revealing about the hero and how he’s viewing their relationship. I thought I’d use a few examples from Exposing the Heiress.

First, a super quick summary: Alyssa Brooks finds out her stepfather is paying her fiancé to marry her, and breaks off the engagement. But the fiancé threatens her, and Alyssa runs to the one man she knows will protect her. Hunter Reece is a former Marine sniper. Alyssa was his little sister’s best friend, and he’s determined to protect her while ignoring the sizzling attraction between them.

In this scene clip, Hunt learns that Alyssa was unfulfilled in her sexual relationship with her ex. (Alyssa blurted that out after having a little wine.) Hunt’s response is:

“I don’t know what the hell you were doing, Lyssie, but that wasn’t sex. Not the kind you deserve with a man who cares about your pleasure. There’s nothing hotter than a woman losing control from my touch. Nothing. Not a perfect body, lingerie, makeup or anything can compare to watching her eyes lose focus, her body shudder from bliss… That’s sexy and it’s a gift."

This is a little sexy and it tells us that Hunt isn’t a selfish lover. More importantly, he cares that Alyssa, whom he calls Lyssie, and has since they were kids.

Leading up to their first kiss, Hunt has been trying to warn Alyssa off – he’s not the man she remembers growing up. But he can’t keep his hands or mouth off her if she touches him and says,

“One touch and I’m going to kiss you. Hard. Not like whatever the <bleeped> you were doing with your ex. If I kiss you, you’re going to feel my hunger to have you naked, wet, and wild beneath me.” He sucked in a hissing breath through his teeth. “I don’t want some prissy-ass cover girl, Lyssie, I want you.”

And a few days later they are moving beyond kissing to consummation:

“Do you know how damned hard it was to put you in bed this morning and walk away?” He laid his hand on her face and dragged his thumb over her lips. “I wanted to kiss you until you woke, slow and soft, your body heating as I tasted you. You’d have let me do that, wouldn’t you?”

He’s seducing her with words, telling her he knows she hungers for him as much as he does her, and that ramps up the sexual tension.

And here, there’s a shift from raw and sexy to romantic with a suggestion of wanting something more lasting.

“You’re not a hookup. You’re my lover, and right now, you are making me want more. Crave more. I want to go to bed with you, get up with you, take you on dates, make you dinner while you tell me about your day working on your Streets of Valor website. I want to sculpt every wicked image of you I can come up with, and believe me, I can come up with a lot. You are not a hookup to me, baby girl.”

Hunt and Alyssa are falling in love…if they can survive the danger closing in on them long enough to give their love a chance.

So what do you think of sexy-talking heroes?
