Book Review: Rock Hard (Rock Kiss Series, Bk #2) by Nalini Singh

Rock Hard
(Rock Kiss Series, Bk #2)
By Nalini Singh

Blurb:
In New York Times Bestselling author Nalini Singh’s newest contemporary romance, passion ignites between a gorgeous, sinfully sexy man who built himself up from nothing and a shy woman who has a terrible secret in her past…

Wealthy businessman Gabriel Bishop rules the boardroom with the same determination and ruthlessness that made him a rock star on the rugby field. He knows what he wants, and he’ll go after it no-holds-barred.

And what he wants is Charlotte Baird.

Charlotte knows she’s a mouse. Emotionally scarred and painfully shy, she just wants to do her job and remain as invisible as possible. But the new CEO—a brilliant, broad-shouldered T-Rex of a man who growls and storms through the office, leaving carnage in his wake—clearly has other plans. Plans that may be equal parts business and bedroom.

If Charlotte intends to survive this battle of wits and hearts, the mouse will have to learn to wrangle the T-Rex. Game on.

Viviana's Review:
After reading "Rock Courtship (Rock Kiss, #1.5)" I just had to read "Rock Hard". Also, did you see the cover? I mean, LOOK AT IT! Okay, eyes back here! LOL, Sorry, my fault! I haven't read Nalini's PNR series (gasp I know) but I have added it to my TBR Mountain as I have fallen for her writing style! She has a gift with words and creating characters that the reader can connect with and totally fall for.

If you picked up, I have read the novella of this series and not the first book. Sigh... too many books NOT enough time! My friend and fellow blogger Kelly from Books-n-Kisses LOVED this book (here is her review if you'd like to check it out) and says I MUST read the first one to get an idea why the nickname T-Rex fits Gabriel to a Tee. While I did promise I'd read it and I do WANT to read it, the good news is that you can pick up the series from here! "Rock Hard" can be read as a stand-a-lone and Nalini does a  great job of showing the reader why Charlotte gives him the nickname T-Rex.

Lets start with T-Rex, I mean Gabriel! Not only easy on the eyes, he's an extremely smart business man who has had to prove that over and over again! Apparently, being a jock and good looking does have its stigmas! He's determination, goal oriented mind-set, professionalism, team player and leadership skills that made him a fantastic Rugby player has now transferred over to the boardroom. While he may have a reputation of being a work-a-holic and tough on his employees, he is a fair boss who brings out the best in them all. He gets rid of the dead weight and those who do not contribute and promote those who deserve it. He is determined to make Charlotte his and how he goes about it is brilliant! He woes her! He tries to make her jealous! At that, I just laughed, because it was not helping his case!! He falls for Charlotte the more he gets to know her and respects her and likes her for who and how she is! Woohooo!! He is also extremely protective of those he loves. As we flip through the pages (or in this case swipe the kindle, lol) we also learn he's a family man! He loves his brothers and his nieces and has a great relationship with his parents. WHAT MORE COULD A GIRL ASK FOR!!!!

Charlotte comes across as a mouse and her personality with most is that of a pushover. We all have our buttons and moments! As Charlotte settles in her new position as PA to Gabriel, she learns to roar or rather that its okay to roar! Charlotte comes out of her shell through out the book and while I understand the reason why she behaved the way she did, there were a few times where she frustrated me. But they were very few and it passed by quickly. I do wish that her "I want to be better" speech was more about HER than her fear of not BEING with Gabriel but if any man was worth it, it would be him!

Gabriel and Charlotte have great chemistry. Gabriel can sure talk dirty!! HOT!! As I mentioned before, one of the things I truly enjoyed about this book is the characters got to know each other prior to jumping into the sack! Heck, prior to claiming they loved each other! Talk about a breath of fresh air!

Overall, a great read that I couldn't put down. The characters were well developed and readers will not only identify with, but will fall for! Will definitely be getting the following books in the series and finding the time to read the previous book!! Adding Gabriel to my list of Book Boyfriends!!! WOOHOO!! Can't be helped!

Rating: 4 stars - LOVED IT
