Audiobook Lovin 2019 Presents: Lance Greenfield Interview

Please welcome narrator Lance Greenfield to
Audiobook Lovin'!!

Hi Lance!! So excited to have you as a guest at this year’s Audiobook Lovin!

For those that may not know you, why don’t we start by having you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you became a narrator?

I started out primarily as an actor for film, TV and stage. I began my career as a narrator in 2015, when a friend of mine suggested I reach out to Brick Shop Audio in Brooklyn. I was very fortunate to get cast in two books straight out the gate; Watch Me by Cynthia Eden and Resist Me by Chelle Bliss! I’ve been at it nearly 5 years now, and I’m about to narrate the hilarious Madison’s Mess by Robyn Peterman.

Are you narrating full time now or not yet? Are there other voice over jobs you’ve done?

At this moment in time, narrating is not a full time job, but I do it quite a bit of it year to year! I work at a restaurant in Union Square in between books, and I’m very happy with the balance I’ve found. I haven’t done other types of voiceover work yet. Romance seems to be my niche, and I am more than happy to be a part of it!

When you auditioned for an audiobook for the first time, and then got the job, did you ever think you’d narrate as many audiobooks as you have so far?

I’m on the cusp of narrating my 100th title, and when I auditioned for my first title, I didn’t imagine I’d have this many titles in 4.5 years!

Do you record at home or use studios? Both?

I record at studios. I don’t have the space yet for a home studio, but believe me, it’s on my list. I record mostly at Audible in Newark, but I also stay close to home at Brick Shop!

What do you love most about being an audiobook narrator?

I love the collaborative aspects of it; interacting with co-narrators and the authors! It’s a lovely community, and I feel incredibly privileged to be a part of it.

Many of us are a sucker for accents! What is your favorite accent to perform?

I’ve developed a soft spot for the southern twang. However, I occasionally have the privilege of doing a Russian accent, and that’s by far my favorite.

What is your favorite sub-genre of Romance to perform?

I’ve have to say my favorite sub-genre is fantasy. The book I’m about to do, Madison’s Mess, revolves around the unlikely romance of a werewolf and a mermaid. Sign me up!

Is there a genre that you have yet to narrate in that you’d like to (either within Romance or outside of it)?

I would love to narrate General and Historical fiction down the road. Very early on, I got to do a sci-fi, and would like to do that again too!

When you’re not working… what do you do for fun?

When I’m not narrating, I like to read for pleasure, as well as developing and pursuing my career as an actor. I love discovering new places in NYC to relax and eat.

Thank you Lance for joining us today and being part of the Audiobook Lovin Series! I'm looking forward to the upcoming titles you'll be narrating!!
