Book Review: His Mistress by Monica Burns

His Mistress
(Self-Made Men Series, Bk #1)
By Monica Burns

Blurb:
As a solicitor seeking justice for victims of violence, Tobias Lynsted must maintain control at all times while working in the seedy underworld of London’s East End. The darkness of his world creates a need for the intimacy and release he can only find in the forbidden pleasure of submission. The kind of pleasure where a powerful man has the freedom to let go of his control for a few sweet moments of oblivion. But when a blackmail scheme forces him to marry, the last thing he expects in a wife is a woman who will satisfy the darker side of his nature.

Lady Jane Grisham has no desire to marry, but choosing marriage over a life of destitution is an easy choice to make. Although Jane knows love is for the foolish, Tobias awakens her most wicked and darkest of desires. In the sinful world of domination and submission, Jane uses her blossoming skills to make Tobias surrender not only his body but his secrets. But she quickly discovers that the true test of her strength is trusting Tobias with her heart.

Viviana's Review:

Monica Burns has a way with keeping things classy yet steamy!! She has an incredible ability to draw you into the world she has created. "His Mistress" is a beautiful combination of a historical romance and BDSM. If you have never read a BDSM genre and really enjoy historical romance, this is definitely a great intro to the BDSM genre.

"His Mistress" is the first installment in the "Self-Made Men" series and I can't wait to read more! I couldn't put this down. Jane is smart and independent and that combination during that time frame isn't a good. She fights society's definition of what is deemed as 'proper' and 'her place'. She's blindsided by her own father by marrying her off in order to make his new wife happy. She doesn't whine or does the "why me" speech. Nope! She takes matters into her own hands and the fun begins!

Tobias is oh so yummy! He's completely alpha but without being overbearing or being an ass! He respects Jane and is intrigued by her independance. He believes what he likes in the bedroom is something that is not for everyone and while he may be right, he has no idea how to approach the matter with his new wife nor does he believe she would be interested in trying something new.

Overall a fabulous reads that leaves you wanting more! Cannot wait for the second installment in the series!

Rating: 4.5 Stars - I LOVED IT Very Much!
